Important Notice: NHS Meningococcal B (MenB) Vaccination Programme
NHS England has introduced a time-limited one-off Meningococcal B (MenB) vaccination catch-up programme for eligible young people.
Please note that this vaccination service is available exclusively through local community pharmacies. GP surgeries are not commissioned to provide this specific catch-up service, so our team cannot book these appointments or administer the vaccine at the practice.
Who is Eligible?
You can receive the free NHS MenB vaccine at a participating pharmacy if you meet either of the following criteria:
School Leavers / Year 13: Born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008 (inclusive).
First-Year Higher Education Students: Born on or after 21 July 2001 and starting university or a residential further education course for the first time in autumn 2026 (under 25 years old). This includes international students and students moving from elsewhere in the UK.
Why Get Vaccinated?
MenB is a severe bacterial infection that can cause meningitis (inflammation around the brain and spinal cord) and sepsis (blood poisoning). Young adults, particularly those moving into shared accommodation or starting university, are at a higher risk of exposure.
The vaccination requires two doses given at least four weeks apart to ensure full protection. We strongly encourage eligible individuals to get their first dose as soon as possible before the autumn academic term begins.
How to Get Your Vaccine
Do not contact the GP surgery to book. Instead, you can arrange your appointment through community pharmacies in one of two ways:
Book Online or via 119: Use the official NHS National Booking Service online or call 119 to book an appointment at a participating local pharmacy.
Pharmacy Walk-Ins / Direct Contact: Contact a local participating community pharmacy directly to check their walk-in availability or book with them. You do not need to be registered with a GP surgery to receive the vaccine at a pharmacy.
