Important Update Regarding ‘Fit to Fly’ Medical Certificates
Please be advised that Gas House Lane Surgery does not provide ‘Fit to Fly’ letters or travel clearance certificates for patients planning trips abroad.
The assessment of whether a patient is medically safe to travel by air falls outside the scope of standard NHS services. Because these certificates require specialist administrative time and carry specific legal liabilities, our clinical team is unable to issue them.
What should you do instead?
If your airline, holiday operator, or travel insurance company requires a medical certificate confirming you are fit to travel, you will need to arrange this through a private travel clinic or an independent private GP service.
- We recommend checking with your airline well in advance to see exactly what documentation they require.
- If you require a printout of your current meadication list or recent medical history to show a private provider, you can access this free of charge via the NHS App, or by requesting a summary printout from our reception team.
